Recording Studio Acoustic Design

Recording studios and monitoring rooms are high-precision professional spaces for vocal recording, instrumental collection and audio mixing. It requires ultra-quiet environment, zero sound distortion, no standing wave and no extra reflection.Core requirements: pure recording, accurate monitoring, controllable low frequency, indoor and outdoor sound insulation.
Common acoustic problems without professional acoustic treatment:
1. Closed space easily causes corner low-frequency standing wave
2. Random reflection disturbs recording quality
3.Over-absorption leads to lifeless sound
4.External and mechanical noise interfere pure recording
5. Unbalanced sound field causes monitoring error
Acoustic design standards

Reverberation Time (RT60)
Recording studios require extremely controlled, short reverberation for clean capture.
- Vocal booths: 0.2 – 0.4 seconds
- Control rooms: 0.25 – 0.4 seconds
- Large live rooms for instruments: 0.6 – 1.0 seconds
The goal is a "dry" sound to avoid coloration and allow for post-production mixing.
Speech Intelligibility (STI) Levels
For voice-over and ADR work, speech intelligibility must be perfect:
- Target STI ≥ 0.80 (Excellent)
And to ensure acoustic comfort:
Recommended noise criteria level: NC-15 to NC-20 (very quiet)

Acoustic Solutions by Area-Wall Systems
Recommended materials:
- Fabric Wrapped Acoustic Panels: Enhances low and medium frequency absorption to reduce standing waves and wall residual sound in studios. Gentle absorption keeps original voice and instrument tone clean, ensuring pure recording quality without extra reflection noise.
- PET Acoustic Panels: Eco-friendly high-density panels for enclosed spaces. It provides balanced full-frequency absorption with no dust or odor. Removes fine echo and reflected sound, ensuring clear dry sound for long-hour recording.
- wood wall sound diffuser: Partially installed on walls to avoid over-absorption and dry tone. It scatters disordered reflected sound, corrects sound field deviation, and ensures consistent audio quality for recording and monitoring.

Wood Wall Sound Diffuser
Acoustic Solutions by Area-Ceiling Systems
Recommended materials:
- Fiberglass Ceiling Panels: Suitable for enclosed ceilings. It filters faint noise from air conditioning and ventilation systems, blocks vertical top reflection, and avoids interference with accurate sound recording.
- Mass Loaded Vinyl: Used with suspended damping keels to reduce floor footsteps and equipment vibration. It cuts external low-frequency noise and maintains an ultra-quiet recording environment.

Design Philosophy

Our recording studio acoustic design takes sound purity, space safety and professional practicality as the core principle.
It focuses not only on indoor sound absorption, but also on external vibration isolation, full-frequency sound absorption and sound field correction. This helps build a low-background-noise, distortion-free and stable recording environment.
We strictly follow international studio acoustic standards, and customize exclusive layout and material proposals based on client site conditions and budget range.
Two solution levels are available:
The economical option uses polyester panels, fabric-wrapped acoustic panels and standard ceiling materials, ideal for small personal studios and simple recording rooms.
The high-end commercial solution equips full-wall absorption and diffusion systems, together with ceiling shock insulation structure. It eliminates standing wave and echo perfectly, achieving professional-grade acoustic quality and neat interior appearance.
